Anita was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, where she still lives, holding the prestigious position of head of the Art department and scientific illustrator till 2013 of the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland, part of the University of Leiden, now Naturalis Biodiversity Center.

She organizes and takes part in exhibitions in The Netherlands and abroad, France and Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA.

De tentoonstelling ‘Natuur in detail – Botanische kunst van Anita Walsmit Sachs’ is vanaf 9 juni te bewonderen in het Westlands Museum. Dit jaar maakt Anita 25 jaar botanische tekeningen van bloemen en planten. Haar werk is te zien in musea en tentoonstellingen over de hele wereld, van Italië tot Japan en van Amerika tot Australië en nu voor het eerst in het Westland. Op de tentoonstelling zijn de hoogtepunten uit haar oeuvre te zien.
